Grön Onsdag: China Glaze - Highlight of My Summer + Depression Awareness Month

Det har ju inte gått att undvika att oktober är månaden då bröstcancer och Rosa Bandet uppmärksammas extra mycket, även den här bloggen har varit mer rosa än vanligt. Det som däremot inte så många verkar vara lika medvetna om är att oktober även är Depression Awareness Month. Med tanke på mitt jobb som psykiatrisjuksköterska så ligger det här så klart mig nära om hjärtat men faktum är att alla människor på ett eller annat sätt kommer i kontakt med depressioner. I Sverige drabbas nämligen knappt hälften av alla kvinnor en fjärdedel av alla män någon gång i livet av en depression som kan behöva behandlas, så det är betydligt mycket vanligare än vad man kan tro.

It hasn't been possible to avoid that October is the month when breast cancer and Pink Ribbon works extra hard on increasing or awarness of breast cancer, even this blog has been more pink than usual. What most people don't seem to know though is that October also is the Depression Awareness Month. Considering my work as a psychiatric nurse this is close to my heart but the matter of fact is that everyone comes across depressions in some way or another. In Sweden almost half of all the women and a forth of all the men gets a depression some time during their life that might require treatment, so it's much more common that you might think.

Precis som rosa är färgen för Rosa Bandet så är grönt färgen som används för att uppmärksamma depressioner. Därför tänkte jag slå två flugor i en smäll idag och både uppmärksamma depressioner och Karins Grön Onsdag.

Just like pink is the color for Pink Ribbon green is the color that they use to pay attention to depressions. Therefor I'm going to kill two birds with one stone and pay attention to depressions as well as Karin's Green Wednesday.

Lacket ni får se idag är China Glazes Highlight of My Summer som släpptes med sommarkollektionen Sunsational. Detta är ett mintgrönt neonlack och galet snyggt, jag bara älskar det och ångrar att jag köpte det först nu till hösten och inte i somras för det här är verkligen ett perfekt sommarlack.

The polish I'm showing you today is China Glaze's Highlight of My Summer that was released with the summer collection Sunsational. This is a mint green neon and it's crazy beautiful, I just love this and regret that I didn't buy it until the fall and not during the summer because this is the perfect summer polish.

Formulan är lite besvärlig till en början, det första lagret blir lite strimmiga men det blir bättre redan med det andra lagret. Allt som allt använde jag tre lager för att få full täckning. Lacket torkar snabbt så att behöva måla tre lager är inget som stör. Det torkar matt och behöver därför topplack för att bli glansigt.

The formula is a bit of a struggle at first, the first coat gets streaky but it gets better already with the second coat. All together I did three coats to get full coverage. The polish dries fast so it's no trouble having to do three coats. It dries matte so a topcoat is needed to make it shine.

Jag skulle vilja avsluta idag med att säga att vara nedstämd eller deprimerad är inget pinsamt eller ett tecken på att man är en svag människa, det kan hända precis vem som helst. Så du som inte mår bra våga berätta det för personerna i din närhet och till dig som känner någon som är deprimerad, visa att du finns där. Ta hand om varandra!

I would like to finish today by saying that being low or depressed isn't embarrassing or a sign of weakness, it can happen to anybody. So if you're not feeling well tell the people close to you and if you know someone who is depressed, show them that you're there for them. Take care of each other!

China Glaze - Pom Pom

Har ni tröttnat på rosa lack än? Jag hoppas inte det för än är det några dagar kvar på Helenas och Pamsans United in Pink-vecka. Jag har visst många fler otestade rosa lack här hemma än vad jag trodde så att hitta lack att visa den här veckan har inte varit några bekymmer alls. 

Are you tired of pink polishes yet? I hope not because there are still some days left of Helena's and Pamsan's United in Pink week. I have a lot more pink untested polishes than I thought at home so finding polishes for this week hasn't been hard at all.

China Glazes Pom Pom släpptes sommaren 2010 i kollektionen Speciality och det här är ett superfint glitterlack. China Glaze är riktigt duktiga på glitter, det kan man inte säga något annat om. Just Pom Pom är ett rosa lack med en viss lila ton som sedan är fyllt av silvrigt glitter i olika storlekar. 

China Glaze's Pom Pom was released in the summer of 2010 in the collection Speciality and this is a super nice glitter. China Glaze is really good at glitters, you can't argue with that. Pom Pom is a pink polish with a touch of purple and it's stuffed with silver glitter in various sizes.

Till skillnad från gårdagens lack så är det här en dröm när det kommer till formulan. Här har jag tre lager men det är möjligt att det hade räckt med två. Lacket torkar snabbt och det är väldigt lättapplicerat, det torkar strävt som glitterlack så gärna gör så topplack är att föredra.

Opposite from yesterday's polish this is a true dream when it comes to the formula. Here I'm wearing three coats but it's possible that two would have been enough. The polish dries fast and it is very easy to applicate, it dries rough as a lot of glitters do so using top coat is a good idea.

Det har varit tyst här på bloggen ett bra tag nu, jag har inte tröttnat och jag tänker inte sluta, det behöver ni inte oroa er för. Det är väl snarare så att motivationen inte har varit så stor det senaste för även om det kanske verkar simpelt att ha en blogg så ligger det faktiskt en massa arbete bakom varje inlägg och jag har helt enkelt haft svårt att hitta ork till att fotografera och skriva. Men nu börjar motivationen komma tillbaka igen, jag har ju saknat bloggen och framför allt mina fina läsare.

It's been quiet on this blog for a while now, I haven't gone sick of it and I'm not going to stop writing, you don't have to worry about that. It has more been a lack of motivation that have been the problem lately and even if it might seem like a simple thing to blog it's actually a lot of work behind every post and I have simply had a hard time finding the energy to photograph and write. But the motivation is starting to come back again, I've missed the blog and above all my lovely readers.

Jag tänkte slå på stort så här på dagen av min återkomst och haka på Helenas och Pamsans temavecka United in Pink som de har startat för att uppmärksamma att oktober är månaden då Rosa Bandet jobbar extra hårt för att samla in pengar till förmån för bröstcancerforskningen. Detta innebär att hela veckan kommer vara fylld av snygga rosa lack är och på andra svenska nagellacksbloggar.

I thought I would go out big today on my return and tag along with Helena's and Pamsan's theme week United in Pink that they started to pay attention to that October is the month that Pink Ribbon works extra hard on collection money for the benefit of breast cancer research. This means that this week will be full of gorgeous pink polishes not just here but on other swedish polish blogs as well.

Först ut den här veckan är detta otroligt vackra rosa lack från China Glaze's sommarkollektion Sunsational Neons On the Shore. Kollektionen består av både krämlack och jellys i vackra neonfärger och detta, Heat Index, representerar ett av jellylacken.

First up this week is this unbelievably beautiful pink polish from China Glaze's summer collection Sunsational Neons On the Shore. The collection has both cremes and jellys in beautiful neon colors and this one, Heat Index, represent the jellys.

Heat Index är som sagt ett jellylack och därmed även skirt men jag måste säga att jag tycker att det bygger på riktigt bra trots detta. På bilderna har jag tre lager och visst, det är en tydlig VNL men ändå, tre lager med det här resultatet är bra.

Heat Index is like I said a jelly and because of that also sheer but I have to say that I think that the polish builds up well. On the pictures I'm wearing three coats and sure, there's a VNL but still, three coats with this results is good.

På bilderna har jag inget topplack och som ni kan se så är lacket något matt precis som många neonlack gärna blir. Så för extra glans behövs helt klart topplack.

On the pictures I'm not wearing any top coat and as you can see the polish is pretty matte as a lot of neons tend to get. So if you want extra shine a top coat is recommended.

China Glaze - Lemon Fizz

Igår visade jag er det lack som jag har använts flitigast under sommaren och idag tänkte jag visa er ett lack som inte har använts än men som i alla fall är i en färg jag också har suktat efter i sommar.

Yesterday I showed you the polish that I've used the most during the summer and today I'm going to show you a polish that hasn't been used yet but that is in a color that I have been craving this summer.

Lemon Fizz som släpptes våren 2010 i China Glaze's Up & Away-kollektion är ett pastell gult krämlack och mina bilder gör inte färgen riktigt rättvisa, det är i själva verket lite mer pastellfärgat än vad det ser ut att vara här. Snyggt är det hur som helst och hela den här kollektionen är underbar, jag älskar den!

Lemon Fizz who was released in the spring 2010 with China Glaze's Up & Away collection is a yellow pastell and my pictures don't do it justice, in reality it's more pastell than what it looks like here. It's gorgeous either way and the whole collection is amazing, I love it!

Likt många andra gula lack så blir även Lemon Fizz lite strimmigt på det första lagret men redan på andra så blir det slätt och opakt. Det torkar relativt snabbt och har förvisso en lite klistrig formula men det är ändå lättlackat.

Just like a lot of others yellow polishes Lemon Fizz gets a bit streaky with the first coat but already with the second one it gets smooth and opaque. It dries pretty fast and even though it has a bit of a sticky formula it's still easy to apply.

Holofredag: China Glaze - Sci-Fly By

Då var det dags för Skimmerskuggans Holofredag igen och jag är med denna veckan också och med ytterligare ett Hologlam-lack. Nu är det bara fyra lack kvar ur den kollektionen och jag börjar se ljuset i slutet av tunneln och kanske till och med kan lyckas få ihop en kollektionssammanfattning inom en snar framtid, det hör ju inte direkt till vanligheten på den här bloggen. 

It's time for Skimmerskuggan's Holo Friday once again and I'm praticipating this week too and with another Hologlam polish. Now there are only four polishes left from this collection and I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel and maybe I can even manage to do a collection summary in the near future which doesn't happen very often at this blog.

Ännu en gång överraskar Hologlam mig med ett fantastiskt lack och man kan ju tycka att jag borde förvänta mig det vid det här laget. Men å andra sidan kan det vara en fördel att jag inte har så höga förväntningar på lacken och därmed inte heller blir besviken när jag testar dem.

Once again Hologlam surprise me with an amazing polish and you think I should expect this by now. But on the other hand it might be a good thing that I don't have high expectations on this polishes and therefor I won't get let down either as I try them out.

Sci-Fly By är ett av de ljusare blå ur kollektionen och verkligen vackert. Regnbågarna är riktigt starka i det här lacket och i solen så tappar jag nästan andan när jag ser det.

Sci-Fly By is one of the lighter blue of the collection and it is truly stunning. The rainbows are very strong in this polish and in the sun it just blows me away.

Tre lager krävdes för att jag skulle bli nöjd och eftersom lacket torkar så fort så gick det snabbt som tusan att få på dessa lager. Jag känner mer och mer att det kommer bli svårt att hitta favoriter ur den här kollektionen eftersom alla lacken är så fina.

Three coats were enough to make me satisfied and since the polish dries really fast it went super fast to paint these coats. I realize more and more that it's going to be hard to find favorites in this collection when all the polishes are this beautiful.

China Glaze - Get Outta My Space

Jag tycker att vi fortsätter med ett nytt Hologlam redan idag, det är svårt att hålla sig borta från dessa skönheter vill jag lova. Idag får ni dock se ett av de lite mindre holografiska lacken men inte är det fult för det, snarare tvärtom. Jag gillar verkligen den lila nyansen i det här lacket.

I think that we should move on with another Hologlam already today, it's hard to stay away from these beauties I tell you. Although today you get to see one of the less holographic polishes but it still isn't ugly, quite the opposite actually. I really like the purple color in this one.

Egentligen är det väl fel att säga att det här lacket är mindre holografiskt för det bildar faktiskt riktigt fina regnbågar, det är bara att de inte syns lika tydligt i den ljusa färgen som lacket har. Det här lacket kräver tre lager för att bli opakt vilket är ungefär ett lager mer än de andra Hologlam-lacken jag har testat, det torkar även något långsammare än resten. 

Actually it's wrong to say that this polish is less holographic because it really does create beautiful rainbows, it's just that they don't show as well in the bright color that this polish have. This polish need three coats to get opaque which is about one coat more than the other Hologlam I've tried, it dries a bit slower too.

Jag hoppas att China Glaze kommer släppa en liknande kollektion framöver också. Det är verkligen roligt med holografiska lack. Jag har förvandlats till min lillebror när Pokemon var som störst och mitt nya motto har blivit: Gotta catch 'em all!

I hope that China Glaze will release a similar collection again soon. It really is fun with holographic polishes. I have turned into my younger brother during the time that Pokemon were huge and my new motto has become: Gotta catch 'em all!

Holofredag: China Glaze - Galactic Gray

Jag kommer inte ihåg när jag var med på Holofredag hos Skimmerskuggan senast och efter att ha tittat i bloggens arkiv så inser jag att det var i mitten av april. Det är ett tag sedan nu och jag tyckte definitivt att det var dags att vara med igen. Sist försökte jag ta mig igenom China Glazes Hologlam-kollektion och eftersom jag inte har hunnit klart med det än så fortsätter jag där jag slutade.

I can't remember last time I participate in Holo Friday at Skimmerskuggans and after having a look in the blog's archive I realize that it was in the middle of April. That is a while ago and I definitely think it's time to take part in it again. Last time I tried to go through China Glaze's Hologlam collection and since I didn't managed to finish I thought that I should continue where I stoped.

Jag vet att jag har sagt det förut men jag bara måste säga det igen, jag är så glad att jag tillslut bestämde mig för att köpa hela Hologlam-kollektionen för de här lacken är underbara, varenda ett av dem. Galactic Gray är absolut inget undantag och jag gillar det extra mycket eftersom jag inte har något annat holografiskt grått lack.

I know that I have said it before but I have to say it again, I'm so happy that I finally decided to get the whole Hologlam collection because these polishes are gorgeous, every single on of them. Galactic Gray is definitely no exception and I like this one even more since I don't have any other holographic grey polishes.

Som flertalet av Hologlam-lacken så är även Galactic Gray riktigt holografiskt och bildar fina regnbågar i solen, det är däremot inte holografiskt i skuggan vilket jag har märkt att andra lack ur kollektionen är. Galet snyggt är det i vilket fall som helst. Nu måste jag testa resten av lacken med, det finns ju en massa skönheter här.

As mostly of the Hologlam polishes Galactic Gray is also really holographic and creates beautiful rainbows in the sun, it isn't holographic in the shade though as a few of the other polishes from the collection are. It's still crazy beautiful though. Now I have to try the rest of the polishes too, there are some stunning beauties here.

Blå Måndag: China Glaze - Optical Illusion

Idag har jag swatchat nagellack som en galning. Det har ju varit rätt så dött på bloggen det senaste och jag kämpar på för att bryta den trenden. Jag ska försöka komma ikapp lite och ha swatchar redo för de dagarna jag inte hinner fotografera, som till exempel efter semestern när jag har börjat jobba igen. Jajamen, nu är jag nämligen på semester, så otroligt skönt!

Today I've been swatching nail polish like a mad man. It has been pretty dead on the blog lately and I'm working hard to break that trend. I'm trying to catch up and have swatches ready for the days when I won't have time to photograph, for example when my vacation is over and I start working again. Yep, I'm on vacation now, so incredibly nice!

Optical Illusion släpptes med China Glazes Prismatic kollektion och jag ägde faktiskt inte ett enda av de här lacken förrän detta damp ner i min brevlåda. Jag är supernöjd med att jag fick det blåa lacket eftersom det var det och det lila som jag var mest sugen på ur den här kollektionen. Tyvärr lyckades jag inte fånga den blåa färgen så bra på bilderna utan det ser lite mer grönt ut.

Optical Illusion was released with China Glaze's Prismatic collection and I actually didn't own a single on of these until this one ended up in my mailbox. I'm super pleased that I got the blue polish since that one and the purple one were the polishes I was most interested in from this collection. Unfortunetely I didn't manage to capture the blue color that well and it looks a bit green on the pictures.

Optical Illusion är som ni ser ett blått glitterlack med mikroglitter i blågrönt och större hexagoner i färgerna rosa, guld, lila och orange. Det är faktiskt ett riktigt fint lack och jag vet inte riktigt varför jag inte har införskaffat mig något ur den här kollektionen tidigare. Två lager var tillräckligt för att lacket skulle bli heltäckande och det krävdes ett lager Seche Vite för att få det slätt.

Optical Illusion is like you can see a blue glitter with micro glitter in bluegreen and larger hexes in the colors pink, gold, purple and orange. It is actually a really nice polish and I can't really understand why I haven't bought any polish for this collection before. Two coats is enough for full coverage and it only takes one coat of Seche Vite to get it smooth.

Grön onsdag: China Glaze - Four Leaf Clover

Det här kan vara ett av de snyggaste gröna lacken jag äger men jösses vad svårt det är att fotografera. Av någon anledning så vill alla kameror jag har lyckats leta reda på visa lacket som turkost och inte grönt. På grund av detta så blir det bara en ynka bild idag, för varför bombardera er med bilder på ett lack som inte alls ser likadant ut i verkligheten. Men ett inlägg till Karin's Gröna onsdag får det bli ändå.

This may be the best looking green polish a own but God is it hard to photograph. For some reason all the cameras that I managed to find wants to show this polish as turquoise and not green. Because of this you will only get one picture today, cause why would I show you tons of pictures of a polish that looks completely different in real life. But it's still a post for Karin's Green Wednesday.

Faktum är att det här lacket inte ens drar lite åt blått utan det är verkligen knallgrönt. Om ni vill se bilder som är mer verklighetstrogna så kolla in hos Pamsan. Däremot kan jag beskriva formulan, den är riktigt bra. Ett flödigt lager är tillräckligt för att få lacket opakt och det torkar så pass snabbt att jag kan börja om med första nageln när jag har målat fem naglar. Inte så dumt!

To be honest this polish doesn't go towards blue at all instead it's super green. If you want to see pictures more true to life have a look at Pamsan's. I can tell you about the formula though, it's really good. One coat is enough to get the polish opaque and it dries really fast. When I'm done with one hand I can start over with the first nail again. Not too bad!

Holofredag: China Glaze - Infra-Red

Det blev ett lite senare inlägg än vanligt, jag hade tänkt att förbereda det igår men när jag väl kom hem från skolan var jag så trött att jag mer eller mindre stupade i säng direkt. Därför får jag skriva ihop det här inlägget nu när jag har kommit hem från jobbet istället och det fungerar ju bra det med. Idag är det åter igen dags för Skimmerskuggans holofredag och även om solen inte är framme idag så var den i alla fall det när de här bilderna togs. 

Men trots sol så lyckades jag inte ta så där väldigt bra bilder på Infra-Red. Det är inte det mest holografiska lacket ur Hologlam-kollektionen men det är i alla fall mer holografiskt än vad det ser ut som på mina bilder. Infra-Red är namnet till trots inte ett rött lack utan att mörkt rosa och även det mest färgstarka lacket ur den här kollektionen. Riktigt tjusigt är vad det är.

Formulan är likadan som med de andra Hologlam-lacken, det är lättlackat, jag behövde två lager för att det skulle bli helt opakt och det visar inga tecken på varken holosjuka eller bald spots men det kan bero på att jag använda Aqua Fix. Lacket torkar dessutom riktigt snabbt. China Glaze har verkligen lyckats med den här kollektionen, jag älskar den så här långt!

Om ni vill se otroligt fina bilder på det här lacket så ska ni titta in hos Sleepy Elin och för en massa andra fina hololack så är det så klart Skimmerskuggan som gäller i vanlig ordning.

Translation: This became a later post than usual, I was planing on preparing it yesterday but when I got home from school yesterday evening I more or less passed out in bed right away. Therefor I'm writing this now when I'm home from work and that works great too. Today it's once again time for Skimmerskuggan's Holo Friday and even if the sun isn't out today it was when these pictures were taken.

But even with sunlight I didn't manage to take very good pictures of Infra-Red. This polish hasn't got a strong holo effect like the other Hologlam polishes but it's more holographic than it looks like in my pictures. Infra-Red is regardless of it's name not a red polish but a dark pink one and it's also the most colorful polish from this collection. Gorgeous is what it is.

The formula is similar to the other Hologlams, it's easy to use, I need two coats for full coverage and it shows no sign of holo sickness or bald spots, although that might be because I used Aqua fix. Also, the polish dries really fast. China Glaze has really succeded with this collection, I love it so far!
